This new museum, which opened in mid-March 2024, is dedicated, as its name suggests, to Viennese activism, a provocative artistic movement of the revolutionary Austrian avant-garde, active between 1962 and 1968. Their violent performances were intended to release individual frustrations and impulses, and break social shackles. WAM's extensive collection includes works by Günter Brus, Otto Muehl, Hermann Nitsch and Rudolf Schwarzkogler.
