The CAT is the easiest, most comfortable and fastest option (16 minutes non-stop) to get from the airport to the city center (Landstrasse/Wien Mitte station in the3rd district). The trains run every 30 minutes from 5:37 a.m. to the airport and 11:38 p.m. to Vienna. Very practical: on the return trip, luggage can be checked in and boarding passes issued at the Wien Mitte/Landstrasse station, as there are counters for several airlines there. Tickets are available at kiosks, or online (cheaper).

The S7 line connects the airport with the main station Wien Mitte (Landstrasse) in the capital city and with the next station Praterstern. It is the most economical solution to connect the airport. It takes 25 minutes to travel and 30 minutes between two trains. You can take the S7 trains free of charge with the Vienna City Card Transfer. Trains on the S7 run from the airport from 5.18 a.m. to 12.18 a.m. and from Wien Mitte railway station from 4.19 a.m. to 11.49 p.m. The time difference between Wien Mitte and Praterstern is 4 minutes.

FRANZ-JOSEFS-BAHNHOF

A historic site in the 9th arrondissement. Inaugurated in 1872, this station was used as a set for the filming of Mayerling (1967), starring Catherine Deneuve, James Mason and Omar Sharif. In 1978, the original building, severely damaged during the last war, was destroyed and rebuilt following a monumental construction project. The modern architectural edifice, with its gleaming bay windows, now welcomes passengers and marks the district. This regional station serves north-western Vienna and the Waldviertel.

WIEN PRATERSTERN (GARE DU NORD)

This is the former Nordbahnhof or northern railway station. From here you can reach the Czech Republic. This imposing station dates from 1838 and was essential for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was badly damaged during the Cold War. It was relegated to the status of a regional railway station, next to the former Iron Curtain. Modernized in 2006, at the gates of the Prater, it has become a major station again and is served, like the Wien Mitte station, by the train from the airport.
