LANGABÚÐ MUSEUM AND CULTURAL CENTRE
Museum with a room dedicated to the works of the sculptor Rikarður Jónsson and exhibition dedicated to folklore, history and crafts.
Langabúð, "the long store", is one of Iceland's oldest commercial buildings, having been partly erected in 1790. Inside, a room is devoted to the works of sculptor Rikarður Jónsson, who died in 1977 and was responsible for such fine portraits as that of Eysteinn Jónsson, a former minister and native of Djúpivogur. Another exhibition is dedicated to folklore, history and regional crafts. Try the delicious cakes from the on-site café.
