SELJAVELLIR POOL
Municipal swimming pool, a place only in Iceland, with natural warm waters of the place, a few minutes walk from the parking
This natural swimming pool was built into the mountain in 1923 using the natural hot waters of the area. To get there, follow Route 1, then take Route 242 towards Raufarfell to the end (be careful, it's a bumpy ride!). From the parking lot, it's about a 20-minute walk to the pool. And when we say swimming pool, we mean a bath with naturally heated water inside! Comfort is basic, and there's a shed for changing, but it's in poor condition. A place that has lost its charm over the years (and the number of visitors).
