The lake of the plain of the Parliament, the biggest of Iceland, with a maximum depth of several meters
The Parliament Plain Lake is the largest lake in Iceland (84 km2), and a wonder to behold. Its maximum depth is 114 m. On its shores and in its waters, 150 types of plants and 50 species of invertebrates can be observed. Among the fish are Arctic char, trout and stickleback. Barrow's goldeneye, harlequin ducks and common loons are some of the water birds that can be seen on the lake. The mink, introduced to Iceland for its fur in 1931, also thrives around Thingvallavatn.

Immanquable de par son emplacement vous le contournerez forcément pour visiter les 3 points du cercle d'or. Le plus grand lac d'Islande est entouré de terres verdoyantes et de fumerolles, prémices de Geysir.

Le plus grand lac naturel d'Islande. Reçoit son eau principalement du glacier Langjökull, dont la solution coule sous terre dans les pores des roches de basalte créées par l'activité volcanique. Très beau panorama. Proche de thingvellir, lieux de rencontre des plaques tectoniques
