A group of around twenty youth hostels offering camping, dormitory beds or private rooms.

Hi Iceland has around twenty youth hostels throughout the country, often offering camping, dormitory beds or private rooms. Most of these hostels are very welcoming, and above all, the scenery is breathtaking!

Good to know: with the economic crisis, many youth hostels have converted, and some very reputable ones no longer offer dormitory beds. In case of doubt, we recommend that you call to check, so as not to be caught off guard when you arrive.

The staff was friendly and really helpful. Sleep conditions are good for a hostel, especially if you reserve a private room.
Their technical system is really bad. They sent me a payment link which was not well-secured and my card details were copied and stolen. ???? Be careful when you pay at them.

My favorite hostel in Reykjavik.
I stayed here 3 nights. Everything was perfect and on the order.
Self check in worked perfectly and I checked in after midnight easily.
The receptions were so kind and answered my unlimited questions carefully.
I liked the kitchen, that was cozy with nice view to the campsite.

The only negative point was distance from city center, but for me as a person who loves waking in center and suburbs that was okay

A hostel. You don't expect much and you don't get disappointed. What else is there? No complaints really, can't blame them for how people are - somebody snoring or being drunk, not being able to clean after themselves in kitchen - those will always be everywhere. Regarding the location - if you choose the place, you have taken in account the location. How could you complain about it? 25min walk to city, but public transport is everywhere, BTW.

We booked Dalur at the last minute as we added two days to our original trip (on the front end). Dalur is a bit out of the way but still a 20 walk to downtown (we are fast walkers). It was nice to see the residential area on the way to the main city area and there is little car traffic. The bus (city and flybus) are right next to the hostel (1 minute walk) so that's super convenient. The price was great and we of course expected to get guests to our room (which fit 6 in bunks) but it was just us two. Igola (sp?) "Ee-go-la" if I remember correctly, she was FANTASTIC. She was very friendly, super accommodating, and worked with us through everything even working through the check in so we were in the same room and could take our bags up a bit early. She even called us a taxi last minute when we couldn't get the Klappið app to work. Outstanding service. I could sleep anywhere, but the only thing I'd have to say is that my boyfriend felt the mattresses were a bit thin and hard. I really appreciated the community kitchens as well.
