Housed in a 14th century building, the establishment has always been a good address since its foundation in 1937 by Tonino Arbace. It is still run by the Arbace family, who want to honour the island's hospitality and know-how. Good local cuisine with Mediterranean and maritime flavours. Some specialities such as the home-made pasta casserole with seafood or the ravioli alla caprese. A welcoming vaulted room, whitewashed and decorated with wine flasks and family photos.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to come across Al Grottino during our visit to Capri yesterday. It's a beautiful, quaint restaurant with a friendly atmosphere. We followed the owner's directions in ordering the escarole to start, followed by homemade pasta with zucchini flowers and shrimp for my husband and vegetable soup for me. Everything - including the white wine - was absolutely delicious. Indeed, this was the best meal we have had in Italy (a country of wonderful meals), and we returned to lunch in Al Grottino again today, this time having the seafood pasta and the lemon / pomegranate pasta.

We LOVED our dinner at Al Grottino! We had the ragu gnocchi and lemon pasta and they were both outstanding. The gentleman serving us was warm and helpful and friendly. The prices were fantastic for Capri and the atmosphere was beautiful and felt very special. We won’t hesitate to return ????
