Local holiday to commemorate the founding of the city dating back to 1567. Cultural and sporting events.

The country's national holiday pays tribute to the act signed in the chapel of Santa Rosa de Lima.

The festivities take place on the capital; surprising military parade of rigour. Last year, the Chinese participated.

Founded by Carlos Giménez and María Teresa Castillo, the festival has always had a great reputation. The latest date, 2006, brought together 23 international companies and 19 Venezuelan. Performances in the city theatres, on squares, street theatre and in alternative spaces. This renaissance is due to the support of embassies, cultural institutions of the city and three town halls.

An electric atmosphere with sounds of drums the 24 th day of the year, to celebrate a very ancient feast where religious and cultural rites mingle with vices. It is the only saint after Jesus whose birth is celebrated.
