Surrounded by orange trees, this provincial capital is a prosperous city that was first built inland. The inhabitants began to settle along the coast at the end of the 13th century. The Plaza Mayor is surrounded by the market, the town hall, the cathedral, destroyed during the civil war and later rebuilt, and El Fadrí, a 58-meter-high hexagonal bell tower that was erected around 1590. While it is not of great tourist interest, it is a quiet city where life is good. And since the beginning of 2018, the AVE Madrid-Barcelona stops in Castellón, which puts the city at two and a half hours from Madrid.
