WHITECHAPEL GALLERY
Founded in 1901 with the aim of bringing fine art to the heart of the working-class East End, the Whitechapel Gallery has distinguished itself by consistently presenting leading avant-garde artists. It was here that Picasso, Rothko, Frida Kahlo and Nan Goldin first exhibited internationally. The magnificent Art Deco building was designed by architect Townsend. The gallery is open all year round and also offers a bookshop and café. There are always new artists to discover in this space dedicated to contemporary art.
