Concert halls Venice

In the impressive setting of the Scuola Grande di San Teodoro (16th century), concerts of baroque music and opera of the highest quality are regularly organized. One comes to listen to the music of Mozart, Vivaldi (The Four Seasons), Bizet, Offenbach, Pachelbel or Boccherini in this high place. The musicians, dressed for the occasion in period costumes, play the most beautiful arias of baroque opera, but also the famous arias of the operas of Verdi and Puccini. During the carnival period, the performers are dressed in masks!

Active since the seventeenth century, among the oldest theatres in the city, this small "Italian-style" theatre (with four orders of superimposed boxes) is dedicated to the great theatrical writer Carlo Goldoni who directed it from 1752 to 1761. It was for this stage that the Italian Molière composed his plays with immortal characters, including La Trilogia della villeggiatura, Sior Todero brontolon, Le Baruffe chiozzotte and Una delle ultime sere di carnovale, which continue to be performed there today alongside other shows.

Inaugurated in 1678, it was then called Teatro San Giovanni Grisostomo. An opera house, it expanded its repertoire to include comedy under the direction of Carlo Goldoni himself from 1730, and since 1837 has borne the name of the famous Spanish singer Maria Malibran. In 1996, the Malibran became the Theater of the Venetians, pending the reopening of the fire-damaged Fenice. It retains its remarkable period decorations and hosts classical music concerts and plays, under the same management as La Fenice.

The Giorgione, with its two theaters and 297 seats, offers both art house and big budget films. It is one of the most popular cinemas in Venice, between Fondamenta Nuove and Rialto. Get off the vaporetto 1 at Ca'd'Oro and, after passing Campo Santi Apostoli, you're there.

The Accademia Cinema offers more fresh new features at unbeatable prices. It's ideal if you missed the movie you're talking about in all dinners. Comfort is minimal: The room is not heated in winter (there are even air currents), and the seats are far from comfortable.

This little architectural gem was taken over by the French. A ^17th-century casino (a kind of small salon for pleasure and leisure), the Palazzetto is now home to the Centre de Musique Romantique Française, dedicated to promoting a musical repertoire from 1780 to 1920, as original as it is little-known. The concert calendar is rich and attractive. Even without attending a show, a visit to the site will allow you to admire the marvellous fresco and stucco decoration, as well as the carved wooden balustrade overlooking the ballroom.

One of the favorite cinemas of the Venetians, located in the heart of San Marco. This is the place where movie lovers like to go to see the best films of the moment, both Italian and foreign. The establishment has built its reputation over the last century. It currently has three large screening rooms, one of which has 300 seats and shows feature films in 3D. At the Rossini, it is often possible to attend previews before the Mostra.
