This "high school of human values for young girls", as the sign in front of the 1870s building indicates, is a former luxury hotel, the Grand-Hôtel des Avants, a popular place to stay for the English and Russians in the Belle Époque. Ernest Hemingway stayed there. Today, Le Châtelard is an academy that provides a specialized comprehensive training for young girls, including courses in good manners and haute cuisine. The school also organizes summer camps and various seasonal events.
