A charming village at an altitude of about 1,000 m, Les Avants is at the gateway to the Pays-d'Enhaut and the Vaud Pre-Alps. In May-June, it is a paradise for daffodils. Numerous footpaths, towards the Col de Jaman, the Pays-d'Enhaut, Montreux (along the magnificent Chauderon gorges), make it the starting point for many hikes (detailed walking maps at the Les Avants railway station). To get there by train, take the GoldenPass (MOB) train in the direction of Château-d'Œx-Gstaad-Zweisimmen, stop Les Avants. By road, exit Montreux and follow the signs to Les Avants, passing through Chernex and then Chamby (about 15 minutes).
