The bakery L’Epi d’Or, in the heart of Pont-l’Evêque, has built up such a reputation that it attracts most Parisians who come to the Pays d’Auge for a weekend or holiday. During the holidays and especially on weekends, you have to come very early in the morning to avoid seeing a line that runs in front of the other nearby stores. Not that the other bakeries are not good, on the contrary do not hesitate to test the Gana chopsticks and the very good Paris-Brest from Pains, Etc. (next door, rue Saint-Michel) or the pastries and macaroons from Sophie Briand, rue Saint-Melaine. But it must be said that L’Epi d’Or maintains its reputation, with its many pastries, all more beautiful and gourmet, its bread always crispy and well made, or its butter croissants that make the Sunday outing a must, sometimes just for that!
