Staro Nagoričane/Старо Нагоричане (pronounced "staro nagoritchané") has around 500 inhabitants and 3,500 with the rest of the municipality, of whom 72% are Macedonians and 17% Serbs. The village lies 16 km northeast of Kumanovo and 15 km southwest of the Serbian border. Bus connections: 7/day to Kumanovo. This predominantly Serbian village is famous for its prestigious 14th-century Church of St. George. Strange rock formations can be seen in the surrounding area. The Kokino rock, in particular, is billed as the "Stonehenge of the Balkans". Although scientists remain sceptical, it's still a lovely place to take a stroll.
