This archaeological site is one of the most important in Italy. It consists of a 6th-century Byzantine palace, the floor of which is now 3 meters below road level. Access is via the 18th-century church of Sant'Eufemia. It features polychrome mosaics with geometric and floral motifs, including The Dance of the Genii of the Seasons and The Good Shepherd, whose depiction, standing with hand on hip, differs from the classical Christian one.
