At the opposite end of the island, Larantuka, the eastern part of Flores, is the less touristy equivalent of Labuhan Bajo. The Portuguese settled here after the discovery of Flores, which explains why the city's streets are of a mixed European type. The Indo-Chinese population is also very present.Although the town has nothing special to offer, apart from being the departure point for the eastern archipelagos of Solor and Alor, Larantuka is still a nice place to visit, with good restaurants such as the Sederhana warung (on the right of the harbor entrance, in the main street): try the fresh doughnuts, they're to die for.
