The pretty island of Solor offers a unique blend of culture and history. Known for its traditional weaving art and pristine beaches, it is even less crowded than its neighbors. Solor's historical heritage is enormous, marked by Portuguese and Dutch influences, still visible in the remains of a Dominican fortress at Lohajong dating back to 1566. Nearby, the island of Lamakera is known for its ancestral whaling tradition, although this is gradually being modernized. The island, rich in biodiversity, is perfect for snorkeling and diving, for a peaceful and relaxing getaway.
