A pretty town built on a hilly isthmus, Ende is nestled between volcanoes. Its churches are centers of social life, and its hospitals, run by clerics, seem almost enticing for Indonesian hospitals.Capital of Flores, Ende was the seat of a princely majapahit family. Then the Dutch made it the capital of East Nusa Tenggara. The town is clean and green. As the sun sets over the beautiful bay, you can make out the volcanic cones that lace the horizon. Choose this time of day for a stroll along the bay. You'll see dried fish littering the concrete seawall.
