Despite its remote location, Kelimutu is one of the most visited volcanoes in Flores and Indonesia. Its presence on the island explains Flores' relative success as a tourist destination. The volcano is riddled with 3 craters, which contain as many lakes of constantly changing colors. The colors are extraordinary: it's as if a giant child had poured pots of paint into the various craters, so artificial do their colors and textures appear...
