This town of nearly 75,000 inhabitants in the Tonkpi region is located 50 km north of Man. It is surrounded by dense forests. Its name comes from the yacouba Biangouin which means "above Mount Bian". Inhabited mainly by the Yacoubas, Touras and Mahous (from the Mandingois), it is known for its acrobatic dances (every Sunday) and its round huts with conical straw roofs, decorated with kaolin frescoes, executed by the naive painters of the Ivorian forest, that children like to populate them with animals and masks. But also for its weavers who make blue and white canvases called indigo cloth
