A geological site that bears exceptional witness to an event that occurred at the end of the Cretaceous period: the Chicxulub meteorite.
Do you know the Chicxulub meteorite? No ? However, its fall, 65 million years ago, is at the origin of the disappearance of the dinosaurs and 50% of the life on earth! The geological site of the fossiliferous cliffs of Klint is an exceptional testimony of this event which occurred at the end of the Cretaceous. Scientists were able to observe the sediments linked to the ash cloud formed by the impact of the meteorite, the impact itself being underwater off the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico! An exceptional site registered by Unesco.
