FOIRE AUX PICOTS

A fair as secular as it is typical. The Foire aux Picots de Lisieux is a must for those who want to immerse themselves in this unique atmosphere in the Pays d'Auge, where the town is transformed into a farmyard. The "picots" are the turkeys, in Normandy, those that are bought in the summer to raise and fatten them for the end of the year festivities. This poultry meeting dates back to the Middle Ages and features ducks, geese, pigeons, birds, roosters and chickens and even rabbits of all kinds. Gossiping, clucking, cackling, cackling, clucking... The colours and the shouts are multiple, the prices are varied. Field poultry has become a city dweller: its contribution to waste reduction is estimated at 150 kg per year.
