Cotnari is surrounded by one of the country's most famous vineyards, located in the Bahlui river basin. According to legend, the first vines were planted in the 15th century by the voivode Ștefan cel Mare. Cotnari's fame is due to the quality of its sweet white wines, such as Fetească Albă or Grasă de Cotnari. Their amber color and powerful taste have won them numerous awards. The nearby town of Hârlău is home to the majestic Church of St. George, founded in 1492 by Ștefan Cel Mare. Its ornate brick façade is superb.
