Surrounded by hills, this village of 2,300 inhabitants is a good starting point for discovering the region's caves: the Meziad cave (see Beiuș), in particular, is not far away. In Roșia itself, you can visit the Farcu mine's Crystal Cave, small but richly decorated with calcite crystals in a variety of shapes (Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 3pm, admission €7, concessions €5). Roșia also boasts other attractions such as artisanal țuică distilleries and a lutherie workshop where trumpet violins, an instrument specific to this region, are made. After Roșia, continuing towards Aleșd, you'll cross the Albioara Gorge.
