Things to see and do Jeonju 전주

Located in a renovated old building, this museum offers visitors the opportunity to explore the world of traditional Korean spirits and take part in various related workshops. Visitors can get a close-up look at the different types of "wine", including the famous Makgeolli, as well as the tools used to make them, particularly for fermentation. The museum's historical documentation and contextualization are very well articulated within a pleasant scenography.

Unlike tangible cultural heritage, intangible heritage is "living", practiced and transmitted by mankind throughout history. The NIHC is the first institution in Korea charged with safeguarding it. Its roles include transmitting this heritage through research, archiving, exhibitions, performances and educational programs. With its meticulous organization and interactive content, the visit is both enjoyable and instructive.

First museum of its kind in Korea. It is ideally located in a city that gives all its nobility to hanji, traditional Korean paper. Through a collection of more than 3,000 objects, you can learn about all the stages in the making of this paper. You can of course attend its elaboration, but also (and especially) participate if you feel like it! We do not fail to make a jump also in the museum shop which obviously offers items related to hanji (fans, letter paper...). Ideal for a souvenir.
