THE PERFUME MUSEUM
A peaceful perfume museum in Marrakech, offering an opportunity to discover the major stages in the creation of a perfume
Marrakech is for the eyes, but also for the nose! So much so that Benchaâbane, the man behind the restoration of the Majorelle gardens and the creation of Yves Saint Laurent's first perfume in 2002, founder of the Museum of Contemporary Art and also a "nose", has devoted an entire 19th-century riad to it. In a bucolic setting and a most elegant décor, you'll discover the main stages in the creation of a perfume, from distillation to composition, as well as the secrets of incense, argan, floral waters and other essential oils. Certain uses of perfume, such as trances in southern Morocco, are described. "In our culture, we use perfume from birth to death," points out Amina, who manages the museum. "We even place plants in the coffin to help the deceased find the right path The perfumes of Marrakech float in the air of time through this unusual olfactory experience...
Play the perfumer. Guided by Amina, you can create your own fragrance based on five scents in a perfume bar. The workshop lasts around 40 minutes. Please note that this annex to the tour is not included in the ticket price, and proceeds go to the Benchaâbane Foundation for art and environmental education. Information is displayed, but not always repeated on arrival; don't hesitate to ask for details. Other services are also available, including special initiations for children.

Musée original
Le musée offre même la possibilité de participer à un atelier et de créer son propre parfum. C'est une visite courte, mais intéressante.
