Marrakech's tanners' quarter, offering a visit to discover how leather is made using ancestral methods

Bags, poufs, babouches... all the leather you see in the souks comes from here. Even if Marrakech's tanners' quarter isn't quite as impressive as that of Fez, it's well worth a detour, if only to familiarize yourself with the long transformation process. You'll understand the ancestral methods used to transform raw hides into supple leather pieces. The smells are strong, and you'll be given a sprig of mint as you enter. When you leave, it's clear that you won't look at your future leather purchase in the same way.

Personnellement j’adore les souks des artisans, par contre l’odeur n’est pas toujours super agréables mais vous pouvez vraiment voir les artisans travailler devant vos yeux.

Endroit sympa loin de la foule , l'odeur est impressionnante , les commerces sont très chers et surtout on est souvent alpaguer par jeunes qui veulent nous faire visiter la ville

A rather poor quarter and a bit far from tourist Marrakech. The smell there is marked because of the Berber tanneries (Camel and beef) and Arab tanneries (goat and sheep), the rare shops are quite expensive, bus be-saying craft.
