Luxury hotel with 3 restaurants and a spa, offering spacious, comfortable rooms in a highly standardized style

Ten minutes from the city center and in the heart of the tourist area of Marrakech, the Kenzi Menara Palace is very well placed, especially for our golfing friends. On 5 hectares of land, the luxury establishment offers spacious rooms in a very standardised style but with a certain comfort. One of the advantages of the sign is probably its huge swimming pool, where it is nice to swim after a day in town, or its kids club. The hotel also has 3 restaurants and a wide range of treatments in its spa.

The hotel is very far from everything, so a taxi is required to get to restaurants or any activity. In terms of location, it gets one star!!!! The property is beautiful and well-decorated.
Despite its potential as a 24-hour facility, the gym could have been better. It was dirty and poorly maintained, with no fresh towels, empty tissue boxes, or stocked-up water. The gym floor had noticeable dust, especially when the sun was shining in the day. The equipment, though functional, could use some oiling and maintenance, and the garbage bins were full.
As I write this review, I sit in my hotel room on our last evening. The wind is blowing strongly outside, and even though the windows are closed, the wind penetrates the room and blows the curtains. I could hear a baby crying in the room next door, which was annoying if you come on holiday to rest. You can hear everything from the next-door rooms. The bathroom rail for hanging towels is broken. The toilet wasn't flushing in the previous room, and the mattress cover needed to be longer. Since the mattress protection cover is more like a duvet, it was uncomfortable to sleep on. The sheet covering the mattress is not suitable as it cannot be tucked neatly - so you might end up with the sheet moving through the night. The pillows are enormous. They are not for sleeping on. I asked the reception desk for smaller pillows, and this was never fulfilled. When booking, we asked for a double bed, but they gave us a room with two singles put together, which made our first night uncomfortable. We booked a sauna and had to pay for a 30-minute time slot. These things should be included in the stay. It needs to be clarified when making the booking. When we went to the sauna, the receptionist took us there and left. She came into the sauna an hour later, telling us that we were overtime. I didn't have my watch on, and it felt like we had done something wrong with how the receptionist communicated with us. When we went to pay, I said I needed to collect my wallet from my room as I didn't bring it to the sauna. The lady told me my partner needed to stay while I got my wallet. That was the final straw. I was staying in a 5-star hotel, and they didn't trust me to go and get my wallet. I was angry at her attitude and the hotel's lack of responsibility for not informing us that our time was up in the sauna.
Breakfast is not good at all. The food is not labelled, and it stays on the hot plates and gets very dry and nothing is special. The toast machine needs to be fixed. Lunch at this restaurant it's the same. Some dishes needed to be more varied and less dry. The tagines were delicious, but how many would you like to eat? If you venture into Marrakech, you'll find much better quality food for way less, and I am talking excellent food! One waiter at the hotel stood out from everyone: Safieddine. He was kind, friendly, attentive, and just a joy to see him every day. I think the hotel staff could learn from Safieddine's attention to detail. From uncomfortable beds, excessive noise and a lack of attention to detail, to poor breakfast options, my stay was not what I expected - given the reviews I had read before booking online.I experienced this when I asked for a new room because the toilet was not functioning and the two single beds were uncomfortable, it felt like they were burdened by there reaction. No apology "we are dso sorry for this inconvinience". During check-out, I informed the staff that we didn't use anything from the mini-bar. However, I found it unacceptable that they made us wait until someone checked before believing us. The focus on building client relationships was not a priorioty as far as I am concerned! In Morocco you get a sense that people on the streets are hussling to survive and I love that capacity when people just do what they need to do to survive. I got this energy also from the personel - The hotel is designed to make money on every extra they can get.

As our Marrakech adventure drew to a close, the Kenzi Menara Palace welcomed. Nestled within its 10-acre park, this hotel exudes timeless elegance. The bell staff, with their genuine smiles, and friendliness welcomed us.

The check-in process was as seamless. Speaking of which, our spacious room felt like a sanctuary—a place to unwind after bustling days in the Medina, one thing I did notice was that we could not lock the door from the inside, it was stuck. The bathroom, with its dual offerings of a bath and a shower, was a luxurious touch.

The reception staff were very helpful. Need a taxi to explore the Medina? They’ve got you covered. Walking enthusiasts, beware: it’s about an hour’s stroll from the hotel. But fear not—the journey is a delightful immersion into Marrakech’s soul just make sure to use google maps for your strolls if you are willing to walk.

Remember this: cash is king. While the Kenzi Menara Palace lacks an ATM, a short jaunt across the road to the neighbouring hotel solves that. And for the towels—yes, there’s a deposit (£45 for two Adults which I thought was quite steep).

The dining experiences! Our first night, we indulged in the buffet. But beware—it can be a princely sum. Nearly £100 for the feast left us both shocked. Tables lingered, but the service remained commendable. My partner’s love for the lab with the buffet’s lamb led to a midnight rendezvous with queasiness, he actually felt ill and was throwing up and going to the toilet very often, not sure if it wasnt cooked properly or cleaned but seemed he got ill from this. The next day, he bounced back, which was good as we still has 2 days left.

There wasn't much choice for the breakfast although it was a buffet style, a lot of pastries not enough proteins to chose from

The following evening, we stepped into the Italian restaurant on the premises. A wise choice for sure! The price was half that of the buffet, yet the impeccable service and delicious fare stole the show. Fresh ingredients, artful presentation—it was a culinary sonnet in this side.
To the staff who made our stay unforgettable: Shukran.

For a 5* hotel we were very disappointed. The staff were rude and unfriendly. The overall service provided or should I say lack of was probably one of the worst I have ever experienced. There was no service provided by waiters around the pool and when you did order from the bar it seemed like an inconvenience. The service was exceptionally slow. Each day I had to wait over 45 mins for a sandwich! by the time it arrived the chips were cold and there were a couple of days where my drink order was wrong. I then had to wait for over 15 minutes for it to be corrected which resulted in me going back to bar to remind them of the order.
The buffet restaurant didn’t open until 8pm which we think is very late.
There was no ATM onsite but we needed cash for the taxi. So reception told us we had to leave the resort and find a bank. Personally I didn’t feel safe and for a 5* hotel you’d think they would have an ATM.
On our last night we settled our bill as we had an early flight. The morning we left, we were faced with a very grumpy guy who was making out we were about to leave without paying. Rude is an understatement.

Oh and don’t forget you have to pay €30 for a pool towel, that’s right €30. For a 5* hotel you would think they would give you a towel.

The rooms - the bathroom stuck of sewers and made me feel physically sick.
One night we had a guy next door that coughed all night long, followed by a child crying. You can literally hear everything. On our last full day we went back to the room to find our front door not closed properly by the cleaner.

Overall, the hotel/grounds was nice but in general the overall holiday was awful. If you want 5* stay away from this hotel because you will be wasting your money.

Also prepare yourself for at least an hour wait at customs on arrival. I think it’s fair to say we will not be returning to Morocco.
