This elegant Romanesque and Gothic brick church was one of the first gathering places during peaceful revolutions.

This church was one of the first gathering places during the peaceful revolutions that led to the fall of the Wall in 1989. At the time, political meetings were forbidden, so protesters decided to gather in churches, the only real places of expression in Berlin. It was here that Mahnwachen, peaceful vigils organized to demand the release of political prisoners, took place. The building is not lacking in elegance, with its brick façade and Romanesque and Gothic elements.
