Beautiful castle with keep offering panoramic views of the Rhine plain, the Römerberg and the Black Forest in Badenweiler.

A fairly steep climb is the only way to reach this beautiful castle and its keep. It has been restored and offers panoramic views over the Rhine plain, the Römerberg and the Black Forest. The castle had several storeys. Who built the first piece of this emblematic monument? A mystery! The first written records mention it in 1122 under Konrad von Zähringen, but the castle's construction goes back even further. Until its destruction by French occupiers on April 6, 1678, Baden Castle changed ownership several times.
