BARTOLOTTA'S LAKE PARK BISTRO

World cuisine restaurant €€

We're not sure whether it's the view or the menu that wins the day here. Sure, the restaurant is perched atop a hill overlooking Lake Michigan, but the lamb chops aren't bad either. Granted, the view stretches out over the immensity of the waters, and in the evening there are colored reflections on the surface of the lake, but all the same, the filet mignon is very good. We'll put the two on the same level: one of Milwaukee's best French restaurants!

MADER’S

Milwaukee's best-known German restaurant, founded in 1902. In those days, a lunch was only worth 4 cents! It is housed in a building that looks like a German castle with its beautiful tower overlooking the street. Its rather charged Baroque decoration is a perfect example of the German influence in this part of West Town, which has remained intact despite the restructuring of a large part of the district. Numerous local specialities, served in a very picturesque and pleasant setting. Special mention for their very popular pork shank.

BRAISE RESTAURANT

3.5/5

At Braise, the dishes are simple and delicious, the produce is local and some even comes from the roof! A vegetable garden has been set up, and the chef picks herbs and vegetables to suit his menu. The atmosphere in the restaurant's two dining rooms is convivial. We particularly like the second room, with its large tables where you can meet new people. In addition to being a very good cook, the chef offers cooking classes, which are a great activity during your stay in Milwaukee.

SAFEHOUSE

The SafeHouse is a wacky place, where everything is mystery and spy stories. The restaurant is a real labyrinth, with secret passages in every corner, unsuspected rooms... We won't tell you more so as not to spoil your pleasure. To enter, you will need a password if you come after 8pm. To go out, ask for the secret passageway in the phone booth... As for cooking, it's not great gastronomy, but you can expect good sandwiches, grills, salads.

THE NOBLE

In this bistro-style restaurant, a few tables are lined up in front of a wooden counter, and a small sunny terrace is also accessible in summer. The warm atmosphere echoes the restaurants of Parisian neighborhoods such as Belleville or République. The menu is elaborated according to the market of the day. Moreover, there is no menu to consult on the site, since everything is improvised! The products, fresh and in season, are used as a basis for mouth-watering dishes. The Monday brunch is also very well known.

If everything is good in this bar-restaurant, especially the burger with fries, the Bloody Mary is the one to order. Topped with a burger, bacon or shrimp skewer, you've got a real complete meal waiting for you. The Bloody Beast, a whole fried chicken that will feed your entire table.

THE DARK ROOM AT SAINT KATE

Regional cuisine restaurant €€

A brand new restaurant housed in the Saint Kate Hotel. This steakhouse is a delicious, well-kept secret. In a subdued atmosphere, you can enjoy excellent pieces of meat accompanied by good Italian and Californian wines or perfectly executed cocktails. Fish and seafood are just as tasty. The place cultivates the atmosphere of a Prohibition-era bar, with shelves full of books and velvet benches. We love it.

STONE CREEK COFFEE

World cuisine restaurant €€

A café with several addresses in Milwaukee, but this one is by far the nicest! Nestled in an old industrial building that has been renovated, it cultivates a trendy and relaxed atmosphere. We come here to drink the excellent roasted coffee on the premises. You can also snack on prepared salads and cakes. In winter, sit facing the fireplace for a moment of peace and quiet... It is possible to take part in a free guided tour of the plant, every Sunday at noon, to witness the coffee roasting process.

THE CAPITAL GRILLE

World cuisine restaurant €€

This steakhouse, which originated in Rhode Island on the East Coast, has been so successful since its founding that it now has some twenty addresses throughout the United States. If you want to eat a nice piece of beef, The Capital Grille is the place to be. At lunchtime on weekdays, you can opt for a burger or a simple sandwich, which is less hearty but also less expensive. In the evening, on the other hand, the dishes are not given. It must be said that the pieces of meat, but also the fish dishes, are particularly tasty.

MOTOR BAR AND RESTAURANT

World cuisine restaurant

The restaurant of the Harley-Davidson Museum offers, logically, a typically American cuisine! The dishes on the menu will make you feel like you're on a road trip on the roads of the American South and West: if the Cajun chicken sandwich doesn't tempt you, there's always the grilled cheese with cheddar cheese or the baked potato with barbecued pork. If the whole thing is neither very fine nor dietetic, the dishes are pretty good and are perfect for a lunch after the visit of the museum.

SAN GIORGIO PIZZERIA NAPOLETANA

World cuisine restaurant €€

If you're in the mood for a real Neapolitan pizza with its fine, crispy dough (especially after a stay in Chicago, where the very thick deep-dish pizza wins all the votes), this is the place to stop. The pizzas are prepared by the excellent chef Gino Fazzari and are baked at 480 degrees in a wood-fired oven imported from Italy. The tradition is followed to the letter in this beautiful West Town address.

THE RUMPUS ROOM

Regional cuisine restaurant

This restaurant is part of the excellent Bartolotta Group, which has already proven itself in Milwaukee and includes the very fine Lake Park Bistro. The Rumpus Room focuses on local cuisine, where you can sample the famous cheese curds or, if you're a group, opt for a platter featuring Wisconsin cheeses. Even more original is the beer and cheese soup, in which you dip a pretzel! The room, with its long wooden bar, has a little saloon side that is not unpleasant.
