That's right! You may never have seen eggs like this! They're fun! You're not entirely wrong! For the eggs sold by Sylvie and Gérard are not to be found just anywhere. They're the "work" of hens of the... Marans. Originally from the Charente-Maritime region of France, they can be recognized by their "brown" color. A reconversion for the couple, who swapped their herd of dairy cows for these charming "golden-egg" poultry. Raised in the open air on organic land, the 1,300 or so hens (originally 200), fed on cereals, produce an average of 1,000 eggs a day, which our farmers collect by hand. Want a taste? They're delicious (more taste and less cholesterol). Hurry to the farm to buy these eggs like no other. At the same time, you'll be able to ask lots of questions and stock up on a few homemade jams. Alternatively, you can find them at the Dives-sur-Mer market on Saturday mornings.
