Archaeological site with the remains of a fortified village at the confluence of the Cap-Rouge and St. Lawrence rivers.
It is at the confluence of the Cap-Rouge River and the St. Lawrence River that more than 6,000 artifacts dating from the 16th century were discovered in 2005. These excavations brought to light the remains of the first fortified village (1541) established by Jacques Cartier and Jean-François de La Rocque de Roberval. The site has completed its development with an observation deck, a lookout offering a 360° view and an interpretation trail with an augmented reality experience.
