When to go à MONTRÉAL ?
Montreal charms in all seasons. We take advantage of the winter activities on the snowy Mount Royal and warm up a little on the Igloofest dancefloor and then at the sugar shack and, as soon as the first (well-deserved!) spring sweetness arrives, we stroll on the many terraces that open in May. Summer seems to be an endless party with the crowd of events that take over the streets, parks and every nook and cranny of the city, until the start of the new school year and the famous colours of autumn.
The Montreal region is said to have a humid continental climate, characterized by four distinct seasons, hot and humid summers, and cold winters. Compared to the rest of the province, Montreal can be said to have a more moderate climate. However, temperatures can vary greatly from day to day, especially during the winter. Average temperatures range from -10.2 °C in January to 20.9 °C in July (day/night average).
Montreal is beautiful in any season, but depending on your interests, there are certain times of the year that are best. Here are some tips on when to go to Montreal.
High tourist season : mid-May to mid-October, mid-December to January, and February. Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts will certainly find their happiness at any time, but summer and winter are more suitable for outdoor activities. However, the magic of the colors in the fall (September and October) is worth the detour. In the summer, Montreal is alive with festivals of all kinds, especially in June and July. Even though many major festivals offer year-round programming, summer becomes a pretext for transforming streets, esplanades and parks into popular open-air festivals. For a total experience in the heart of Quebec's purest traditions, winter is the perfect time. Snowshoeing, dog sledding, snowmobiling, ice fishing, field hockey, the Montreal Winter Carnival... It's also the ideal season to try traditional dishes such as tourtière, cipaille, meatball stew and other hearty dishes that will help you get through the cold weather.
Low tourist season: mid-October to mid-December, January, March and April to mid-May. From March on, a trip to the sugar shack is a must.

Canada's second-largest city after Toronto, a dynamic financial, commercial and technological center, a first-rate port on the waterway linking the Great Lakes to the Atlantic, Montreal is one of the world's great French-speaking cities. It is the only city in the country to have reconciled Old World influences with North American modernity, to have succeeded in bringing together the English-speaking and French-speaking communities that history has long pitted against each other, and to have succeeded in integrating an ethnic mosaic resulting from immigration. It's also an agglomeration of once-distinct towns and villages, and a vibrant cultural metropolis. And the sheer number of events that take place here without a break explains its nickname of "North America's festival capital". Last but not least, Montreal is one of the world's great gourmet destinations, a fact not lost on epicureans.
