In keeping with the environmental commitments of Space for Life, the Montreal Insectarium aims to popularize the value of insects among citizens. This entomological museum collects more than 3000 specimens, naturalized or live, from 18 species that are exhibited in rotation during the year. Among the rare species, we find the mantho orchid, the blue morpho, or the Umtali cetoine. In the Grand Vivarium, insects live in freedom or in semi-containment. The space is organized to highlight the contribution of insects to the balance of nature. With a little luck, visitors will be able to witness the metamorphosis of a butterfly as it leaves its chrysalis.
