OLD-LACHINE, RIVERBANKS AND CULTURE
According to the Lachine History Society, she is "one of the first three parishes in Montreal - the first before the Lachine rapids - and the fifteenth oldest of New France." It was also a long-standing bridge head between Montreal, the Great Lakes and the interior of the North American continent. This means the heritage weight that this arrondissement represents today. " Located west of downtown, at the confluence of the Lachine Canal and the St. Lawrence River, this arrondissement is rich in history, art and archeology. " There is the Lachine Museum, the Fur Trade National Historic Site of Lachine and a park of outdoor sculptures. The banks of the lake, the many parks (a coup de coeur for René-Lévesque Park) and the multipurpose trail will delight lovers of the outdoors.
