Located in Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive, the Charlevoix Maritime Museum traces the history of navigation, with a particular focus on wooden schooners and coastal shipping on the St. Lawrence. The museum is housed in the former premises of a shipyard dating from 1946. It highlights the role of wooden schooners in transporting goods on the river. The museum also presents exhibitions on the subject, including historic boats such as the Saint-André and the Marie-Clarisse. An immersive exhibition on shipwrecks is also on offer. As part of its educational approach, the museum regularly renews its program of events and training courses to meet visitors' needs. Workshops are specially designed for school groups. The museum also organizes events in the Parc des Navigateurs and its marine forest, where the trees used in the construction of the wooden schooners are planted. Between nature and culture, mountains and river, it highlights a unique chapter in Charlevoix's history.
