Erected on a rocky spur in the Xᵉ century and fortified by William the Conqueror and then by Henry I Beauclerc, his last son, Falaise Castle is an imposing sight, with its keeps and rampart flanked by fifteen towers. A strategic site from William the Conqueror's first feat of arms to Richard the Lionheart and John Lackland, it was occupied by the English during the Hundred Years' War. Guided tour available.

À l’entrée du donjon, le sol transparent par endroits est impressionnant, et le panorama depuis le sommet vaut vraiment le coup d’œil.
J’ai apprécié également une version simplifiée pour les enfants sur chaque panneau explicatif (en plus de l’anglais) — une très bonne idée !
Nous avons pu nous garer en contrebas en camping-car sans souci. J’ai même l’impression que certains y font une halte pour la nuit sans problème (ce n’était pas notre cas).
Un site bien présenté, agréable et instructif à visiter en famille. Je recommande !
