Normandy’s most visited castle, with animations, retracing 1,000 years of history, with ramparts featuring 15 towers and 3 keeps.

Erected on a rocky spur in the Xᵉ century and fortified by William the Conqueror and then by Henry I Beauclerc, his last son, Falaise Castle is an imposing sight, with its keeps and rampart flanked by fifteen towers. A strategic site from William the Conqueror's first feat of arms to Richard the Lionheart and John Lackland, it was occupied by the English during the Hundred Years' War. Guided tour available.

Visits tend to concentrate on the two square keeps and the Talbot Tower, but those with an interest in medieval military architecture should take the time to explore the curtain walls and their defences as well.
