Soyoos means "the place where the two lakes meet" in Amerindian. An oasis of greenery, orchards and vineyards, it is also the place where a desert begins, the only one in Canada, which crosses the United States through Nevada and into Mexico. While on one side of Mount Kobau's summit, which rises to the northwest in the valley, cold and silence reign and the immense conifers and snow are swept by the wind, Osoyoos is bathed in heat, among cacti and rattlesnakes... A mountain of distance and two distinct ecosystems sheltering a diverse fauna including 300 species of invertebrates.
