Travel Guide Villa Amengual

This superb village, located in a mountainous cirque with peaks covered with eternal snow, is still very young: it was founded in 1983, just after the inauguration of the Carretera Austral! Seen from the road, it looks like a miniature hamlet. This impression is confirmed by the sight of a small yellow church that rises up in its centre. It was built by a local character who is still very much remembered: Father Ronchi, an Italian missionary who set out to explore the most remote parts of the region. The small village hosts an annual equestrian festival: between rodeo parties and folklore events, the gauchos gather to celebrate local cultural traditions.
