I was fortunate to have visited in 2019. You can only truly appreciate the history and the emotions associated with it by physically being here. Walking among the sea of white grave markers, alone with my thoughts, was something I will never forget. My uncle Charles was a combat veteran of Normandy. He received the Bronze Star for single-handedly capturing 20 Germans while on a motorcycle. Although he died in 1987, it felt almost like he stood with me the entire time. His memory certainly was. The day I went was overcast, reminding me of that pivotal day in 1944, which only added to the serenity of my visit. I saw a few GIs who were D-Day veterans. I also thought a lot of my dear friend, Jerry Mueller, who served in the Pacific, who died in 2013. It was a day I'll always appreciate.

Pour nous, aucune galère sur le parking au début du mois de mai

Dommage pour les groupes d’enfants/ado qui s’en foutent et qui encombrent les allées..

Une belle découverte dans un lieu chargé d'Histoire. Une belle exposition au sous-sol. Merci à la charmante dame qui a répondu à la question de ma fille concernant la Rosette et pour toutes les réponses apportées ensuite lors de notre échange. Mes filles et moi avons apprécié. Merci de respecter ce lieu car certaines et certains oublient un peu beaucoup.

Difficile de se faire une juste idée de la taille du cimetière américain... c'est impressionnant !
Les lieux sont parfaitement entretenus, et propice au recueillement et à la mémoire.

Ouah... Que c'est beau ! Quel endroit formidable... L'hommage rendu à ces hommes est formidable. Nous avons profité d'une visite avec une guide qui nous a narrer et fait comprendre toutes ces belles choses qui font de ce lieu ce qu'il est... Merci pour ce beau souvenir...

Lieu époustouflant et émouvant édifié en l'honneur des 9 387 hommes tombés au combat pour sauver la France, puis le reste de l'Europe. Ce cimetière est incroyable tant pas ses stelles alignées en marbre blanc (paix et pureté), que par le mémorial et sa statue, sans oublier la chapelle.

Bardzo dobrze utrzymany, pielęgnowany cmentarz wojsk USA przy plaży Omaha. Miejsce, które zmusza do zadumy i refleksji. Ten ogrom krzyży pokazuje ilu żołnierzy oddało swoje życie za wolność.

Visually stunning and emotionally humbling. It is maintained with the dignity and care that those buried here deserved. If you are anywhere near here you must come here, to see the history and understand what happened and why. From young to old this place has lessons in abundance, and you cannot fail to be moved by this most special of places.

Es ist etwas ganz anderes soviele Kreuze zu sehen die je für einen Soldaten / Soldatin stehen die gestorben sind und wir als deutsche zu verantworten haben. Uns hat das sehr berührt und traurig gemacht.
So viele Menschen oft noch halbe Kinder die in diesem sinnlosen Krieg gestorben sind..
Der Friedhof liegt an einem sehr schönen Ort und ist auch irgendwie beeindruckend, doch überwiegen bei uns die gemischten Gefühle.
Wir dürfen ALLE nie vergessen was Deutschland angerichtet hat.
Danken möchten wir denn sehr netten Mitarbeiter , der uns auf dem Parkplatz angesprochen hat. Auf Grund des deutschen Nummernschildes hat er uns auf deutsch angesprochen und uns gefragt wo genau wir herkommen und ob es uns hier in Frankreich gefallen würde. Dieser nette Herr hat uns den betrübt Tag als Deutsche gerettet.. Merci und vielen Dank

It is a very surreal experience. First to see all of the men who made the ultimate sacrifice. Second to be down on the beach looking out across the channel and then back up at all of the German bunkers. You can picture what the Germans saw watching the US armada cross the channel and then see what the Americans saw looking up at the German bunkers from Omaha as they stormed the beach. I will never forget what I saw that day and how it made to feel to be an American who has served. To see veterans there was a great honor.

Bonne introduction à la visite du cimetière

Ce centre des visiteurs représente une bonne introduction à la visite du cimetière américain de Colleville.
Géré par les USA, on se sent comme dans les visitor centers américains : c'est clair, bien présenté et accessible à tous.

A faire absolument: très bel hommage aux soldats de le Seconde guerre mondiale. Ce Visitor Center est très bien construit et très émouvant! A faire avant la visite du cimetière.

l'exposition est très bien organisée avec de nombreux objets et photos retrançant le D-Day.

Très bien fait, vaut la peine de prendre au moins une heure pour le visiter, il y a beaucoup de vidéo. L'annonce sonore des noms des personnes décédées est un moment émotif de la visite.
