13 km north of Bodhgaya. Gaya is of little interest. It is above all a rail and road junction (both stations are close by). It may be wise to spend a night in Gaya if you arrive late. Bodhgaya is only a 30-minute drive away. The Vishnupad temple is reserved for Hindu devotees and is the only cultural landmark in Gaya! However, you should be aware that there are few tourists in the temple, just devout Indians worshipping Vishnu. The temple is said to have been built on the footprint of Vishnu. From the station, the journey costs around Rs. 120 by auto-rickshaw.
