110 km north of Patna. A few kilometers from this village, in the middle of a vast plain, stands a superb brick stupa dating from the early years of Buddhism, discovered by an archaeologist in 1958. At the top, a niche housed a sadhu before the arrival of archaeologists, and below, a vast plain dotted with small mounds that are certainly other stupas forgotten over time. The Viraat Ramayan Mandir Hindu complex is a pharaonic project largely inspired by the Angkor Wat complex. Its construction was postponed due to complaints of plagiarism from the Cambodian government.
