His disciples took it upon themselves to carry his relics to various places in India and Southeast Asia. The Parinirvana temple marks the place where Buddha passed away. It houses a 6.10 meter long statue of the reclining Buddha attaining Nirvana dating back to the5th century. The Rhamabar Stupa marks the place where he was cremated.
