Travel Guide Alang

An unusual place! This port is known throughout Gujarat and beyond for its "ship graveyard". France has known Alang since the story of the aircraft carrier Clemenceau, which never actually reached it. For it was here that the liners on which tourists enjoyed their dream cruises ran aground. Here, they are completely dismantled; the equipment is then resold to the stores lining the harbor and the entrance to Alang. Beds, refrigerators, kitchens whole or in pieces, computers, televisions, telescopes, navigation equipment, lifeboats, buoys, slot machines... it's a veritable fair for the world of navigation and hospitality. Prices are three times lower than in stores, antiques abound (gramophones, compasses, furniture...) and buyers sometimes come from far and wide to take advantage of this Ali Baba's cave.
