Oujda, because of its strategic position on the Algerian border, has a special character. The city developed thanks to the mining industry and the extension of the railway, which linked it to the rest of the country. Today, it is an important city with a beautiful old medina. You can stroll through the large souk that takes place there on Thursdays, admire the old gates and watchtowers, or take a walk in the Lalla Meriem Park, not forgetting the Dar Septi, the oldest palace in Oujda. In the surrounding area, the Beni Snassen mountains form a superb mountainous region, which can be visited with an all-terrain vehicle.
