A must-see for those who want to know more about D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.

Welcome to the Caen Memorial, one of Normandy's must-see memorial sites! Enter an immersive experience, a historical panorama that takes us from 1918 to the present day, inviting us to reflect on peace and human rights. To begin with, the first area: The Second World War. Discover the causes, consequences, major players and decisive battles that marked this conflict. It's a stirring passage, rich in iconography and fascinating. Then comes D-Day and the Battle of Normandy: understand this decisive military operation that changed the course of history, and the repercussions it had on the local population. General Richter's bunker plunges you into the strategic backstage of the German occupation by discovering a former command post, an immersion on the other side of history. The L'Europe, notre Histoire room features a 19-minute 360° archive film retracing the Battle of Normandy, from June to the liberation of Le Havre. A poignant tribute to the civilians and soldiers who died during these terrible battles. Finally, The Cold War recalls the international tensions that have shaped our world today. Propaganda, nuclear terror... A sad but necessary reminder of humanity's darkest hours.

Our advice? Allow at least half a day to explore everything, and prepare yourself for an emotional experience. A must-see place to understand our history!
