To get around Caen la mer easily, use Twisto!
Since January 2025, RATP Dev has been responsible for operating and maintaining Caen la mer's transport network, in conjunction with the urban community. On the agenda: modernized services, a network as dense as ever, and plenty of new features to make life easier for users. The Twisto network comprises 3 tramway lines and more than 70 bus routes criss-crossing the 48 communes of the urban area. Extended timetables, local or intercity routes, and even a free electric shuttle, all red and very photogenic, which runs in Caen city center. The racks are rechargeable and compatible with NomadCar14 and TER trains: perfect for combined trips!
In terms of services, we've thought of everything to make your day-to-day life easier: a mobile application that lets you calculate your itineraries, follow traffic information in real time, view the arrival of your bus or streetcar thanks to geolocation, buy your tickets with e-Ticket, and even unlock a self-service bike or car.
Twisto Vélolib. The big news for 2025: the self-service bicycle service becomes 100% electric! Called Vélolib, it now offers 400 electrically-assisted bicycles at 60 stations throughout the metropolitan area: Caen, Hérouville, Mondeville, Ifs, Ouistreham, as well as Blainville-sur-Orne, Fleury-sur-Orne, Carpiquet and Colombelles. How does it work? Nothing could be simpler: download the Twisto Vélolib app, create your account in 2 minutes, and scan a QR code to set off on your adventure. Bonus: the first hour is free with the annual subscription (€24). And if you need a bigger bike, the Véloloc service also offers cargo bikes and longtails for transporting children or shopping, with reservations now digitalized on the Twisto website.
Twisto Access. This transport-on-demand service is dedicated to people with reduced mobility. It serves the 48 communes of Caen la mer, offering a door-to-door service, by reservation, for people with mobility difficulties. Whether you need to get to work, to a medical appointment, to the shops or to school, this service makes mobility in the heart of the Urban Community accessible to all. Park & Ride facilities. Several Park & Ride facilities are available. Park your car and continue your journey by streetcar or bus. To leave the parking lot, simply present your validated transport ticket (Atoumod card or contactless ticket). Less stress, less traffic jams, more peace of mind.
Twisto Auto. The car-sharing service, now operated by Citiz, is also getting a facelift. The network now boasts 20 vehicles at 16 stations in Caen and nearby towns. Simple online registration, reservation via the Citiz app or by telephone, and a new, more attractive price structure: €3 per hour with a €16 monthly subscription (compared with €5.50 without a subscription). A flexible, practical and economical solution for your occasional trips.

On sort de là épuisé après chaque trajet.
Valider son billet entre un petit sac une paire de cannes et un souci d'équilibre est un vrai gros problème : d'abord, il n'y a pas de barre d'appui vers les valideurs, et, par ailleurs, le bus repart trop souvent avant qu'on ait fini l'opération et qu'on soit assis.
Les valideurs sont trop bas : on ne peut pas consulter le solde de son pass sur le cadran. Pris au piège d'un pass épuisé, il faut chercher un billet dans un bus qui vous secoue comme dans une bétaillère (monnaie, achat, mobile, etc.). Et là, la chute est presque inévitable.
Ensuite, souvent, presque toujours, pour pouvoir s'asseoir, il faut remonter à l'arrière du véhicule, puisque les gens valides, paresseux et sans gêne, posent leurs fesses sur le premier siège qui se présente, des places pourtant réservées aux personnes en difficultés.
Enfin, à l'arrêt, si on n'est pas assez rapide pour gagner la sortie, la porte du bus se referme brutalement sur votre lenteur. Le chauffeur s'en fout, roulez jeunesse !
Il n'y a pas assez de boutons Stop, ni de barres d'appui, ni de garde-corps surtout dans les trams où ils ont été complètement oubliés.
Bref, garder sa position verticale dans ces conditions relève du sport de haut niveau.
Les coups de frein intempestifs et les accélérations (!) dans les ronds points (ben oui, c'est rigolo, ça fait grand 8 !) donnent mal au crâne.
Voyager chez Twisto est une aventure désagréable. On rappelle que les personnes handicapées ne sont pas toutes en fauteuil roulant.
Je comprends les règles, mais franchement, pour un étudiant, ça fait cher l’oubli. Aucun dialogue, aucune prise en compte du fait que le ticket était payé. Juste une amende sèche.
J’ai attendu le bus 8 direction Hérouville Sphère qui étais censée être là à 13h08, il est arriver à 13h20, sans même s’excuser du retard ! Il y en n’à qui travaille, et qui ont court! À revoir vos horaires ! Ou ne mettez pas des bus tout les 10,15 minutes !
